Shuttle Bus System
The shuttle bus system - Visitor Transportation Shuttle system (VTS) - was established in 1972 after the completion of the George Parks Highway, which made Denali National Park and Preserve accessible by car. Having shuttle buses transport visitors into Denali National Park and Preserve (then Mt. McKinley National Park) helps to protect the natural resources. By using the park's shuttle system, visitors actively support the National Park Service’s mission of preserving and protecting park resources for future generations.
Shuttle Bus Service start dates are as follows (weather dependent):
Riding the shuttle bus system, you can enjoy Denali’s vast landscapes and unparalleled beauty while actively looking for wildlife and taking in the view of Mt. McKinley. Less formal than our tours, you’ll have the freedom to step off the bus to hike, take photos, or simply spend time relaxing in the heart of Denali before re-boarding a later shuttle bus.
Note: Most shuttle buses can be booked online. However, we also offer the option to request tickets by fax (Fax# 602-331-5258). Please cancel 24 hours prior to departure. There is a $4.00 fee per ticket and per campsite to change or cancel a reservation. You may change or cancel the reservation for shuttle buses as long as it is at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the departure time, either by calling (866) 761-6629 or visiting the Wilderness Access Center.
So select one of our shuttle bus options from our 2013 Advance Reservation Shuttle Schedule --- then sit back, relax, and enjoy your journey into Denali:
