Teklanika Campground (Mile 29)
Located beyond the Savage River, Teklanika Campground provides a unique park experience for those wanting more time in the park, and a truly remote camping experience among the backdrop of Cathedral Mountain and the Teklanika River. Because the Teklanika Campground is located within the restricted section of the Denali Park Road, there is a minimum 3 night stay for anyone wishing to drive their RV or private vehicle to this campground. This rule does not apply during the Denali Road Lottery, which is typically held annually, in mid-September. Once parked at your campsite, all travel must be on foot or shuttle bus until you depart so be sure to bring everything you need to make your stay an enjoyable one. The Tek Pass ($33.50), which is a bus pass allowing you to use the park shuttle buses throughout your stay, should be purchased for each member of your party. See below for more information on the Tek Pass.
Reservations of less than 3 nights at Teklanika River are not bookable online and must be made through our Reservations Office at 866-761-6626. The only exception to this rule is during the Road Lottery. Visitors staying less than 3 nights are not allowed private vehicle access and will also need to purchase a camper bus ticket ($33.50) to access the Teklanika Campground. The camper bus ticket functions much like a Tek Pass, allowing you to use the park shuttle buses throughout your stay, on a space-available basis.

Teklanika Pass Information
The Tek Pass should be purchased for each member of your party. It allows you to use the park shuttle buses throughout your stay at Tek Campground, for the price of just one trip.
Due to the restrictions and detailed logistics of travelling the Denali Park Road, the Tek Pass is only available for purchase by telephone through our Reservation Office at 866-761-6629. If you have made Teklanika Campground reservations already, please have your confirmation number ready.
When you purchase a Tek Pass, you will select the first day you wish to use it (likely your first or second day in the campground), and will select a specific bus for that day. This bus of your choosing will have guaranteed seats for you, on the day and time you chose. On subsequent days during your time at Tek, you may use any shuttle bus, boarding at your campground on a space-available basis.
All shuttles begin their trip into the park with at least four empty seats, and many shuttles do not run at maximum capacity - so while Tek campers sometimes find a full shuttle, and must wait for the next, such occasions are rare, especially for small parties.
The Tek Pass is designed for you to experience points farther in the park during your stay. Therefore, the pass only allows you to travel farther into the park, and back to Tek. If you return to the park entrance by bus, you will have to buy a new shuttle bus ticket to travel back to Tek Campground. Do not return to the park entrance, by bus or your own vehicle, until you are finished with your stay at Tek.
The cost is $33.50 per person and is available when you make your advance reservation, or at the Wilderness Access Center or Riley Creek Mercantile inside the park. When you make a reservation, you will be required to confirm a seat on the first bus you will use on your pass. Please note: This pass is only available to campers holding a Teklanika Campground Permit and are driving a private vehicle. Tent campers at Teklanika can use their camper bus ticket ($33.50) in a similar fashion to the Tek Pass.
