Camping in Denali National Park and Preserve is very popular throughout the summer operating season. If your dates are not flexible, be sure to make your reservations early!
Check-In: Upon arrival in Denali National Park, all visitors with campground reservations must check-in at either the Riley Creek Mercantile or Denali Bus Depot to obtain their camping permit and any purchased bus tickets before proceeding to their campground. The Riley Creek Mercantile is located on the first mile of the Denali Park Road. Please see the facilities page for operating hours.
No campground inside of Denali National Park offers electric or water hookups. Generator hours for RVs are 8:00am to 10:00am and 4:00pm to 8:00pm daily. Generators are not permitted to run outside of these hours, so please plan ahead if you will be arriving outside of these times. A RV dump and fill station is available at the Riley Creek Mercantile. This facility is free to those who are camping inside Denali National Park and Preserve.
Discounts: A Senior Pass or Access Pass grants a 50% discount on camping within Denali National Park and Preserve. Passholders must present their pass in-person along with a valid ID when checking in at the Riley Creek Mercantile. Military and AAA discounts are not available.
Entrance Fees: Campground reservations do not include a $15 per adult entrance fee required to enter the park. This fee is paid upon campground check-in. Visitors with a valid National Park Pass must present it along with a valid ID to have the entrance fee waived. For more information please visit https://www.nps.gov/dena/planyourvisit/fees.htm.
Cancellations/Changes: There is a $8.50 fee per campsite to change or cancel a reservation up to seven (7) days prior to arrival. Campground reservations that are changed or cancelled within seven (7) days of arrival date will be nonrefundable.
Check-in/Checkout Times: The check-in and checkout time at all campgrounds is 11:00am. All vehicles must be removed from your campsite by 11:00am on the scheduled departure date. Failure to remove vehicles in a timely manner may result in being charged for an additional night.
Maximum Stay: To provide camping access to as many visitors as possible, there is a 14-night maximum stay at one or a combination of campgrounds each summer season. Visitors are no longer permitted to camp inside Denali National Park and Preserve once their cumulative night stays reach 14 nights during a summer season.
Unattended Occupancy Rule: The visitors are not permitted to leave one campsite unattended overnight to go to other campground or backcountry camping.
Parking: If you plan to use a Camper Transit Bus to access your campground, there is no overnight parking at the Denali Bus Depot. Overnight parking is located at the Riley Creek Day Use/Overnight Parking Lot. The Camper Transit Buses stop at the Riley Creek Day Use/Campground Bus Stop five (5) minutes before the scheduled stop at the Denali Bus Depot.
Firearms: Visitors may carry/possess firearms in all of the Denali National Park and Preserve campgrounds according to Alaska State Law.
For more information about firearms in Denali National Park & Preserve, visit the National Park Service at https://www.nps.gov/dena/learn/management/firearms.htm.
